Privacy policy

This policy explains how AmberPen, Inc. (“AmberPen,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit our website, create an account, or use the AmberPen proofreading API and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, organization, authentication information, and account settings.
- Billing information: subscription, transaction, and billing details. Payment card information is handled by our payment provider rather than stored directly by AmberPen.
- Customer content: text, custom dictionary entries, proper nouns, and related request data you submit for proofreading, along with the corrections the Service returns.
- Usage and technical information: API usage, request timing and status, approximate location derived from IP address, browser or device information, and security logs.
- Communications: information you include when you contact us for support or send feedback.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Service;
- authenticate accounts, process payments, and measure usage;
- respond to support requests and service communications;
- detect abuse, fraud, and violations of our terms; and
- comply with law and protect the rights and safety of AmberPen, our users, and others.
Your text is not training data
We do not use customer content to train machine-learning models. We process submitted text only to provide and protect the Service, including generating corrections and investigating failures.
Text submitted for proofreading is not retained after the response is returned. Incremental proofreading runs inside our SDK, in your own process, so no copy of your text is kept on our side to detect what changed.
How we share information
We may share information with infrastructure, model-inference, payment, analytics, security, and support providers that process it for us under contractual restrictions. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell personal information or use customer content for targeted advertising.
Retention
We keep account, billing, usage, and security information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Text submitted for proofreading is not retained after processing. Narrowly limited security and legal exceptions may apply.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep API keys confidential and contact us promptly if you believe a key or account has been compromised.
International transfers
AmberPen and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers of personal information.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If local law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services, that higher age applies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service or applicable law changes. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when required.
